How TIDE Helped Serious Pig Automate Order Cancellations Across Woo, TikTok Shop, and Unleashed
The Challenge: Keeping Orders in Sync Across Multiple Platforms
When Serious Pig, the B Corp-certified snack brand known for its bold flavours and ethical ethos, approached the TIDE team, they faced a familiar modern eCommerce problem: managing cancelled orders across multiple connected platforms.
Their operations run through Woo and TikTok Shop, both feeding into Unleashed, their inventory and order management system.
But there was a snag.
If a customer cancelled an order on TikTok or Woo, the corresponding order in Unleashed would remain open – often sitting there indefinitely. This created confusion for the operations team, cluttered order data, and risked stock discrepancies.
Ryan McCann from Serious Pig reached out and asked if it was possible for an order to automatically be deleted in Unleashed if it had been cancelled on another platform.
It was a small ask with big implications.
The Discovery: Working to Exploit Unleashed’s API
The question landed with TIDE’s Customer Success Manager, Harry Perkin, who quickly began investigating with the development team.
Unleashed.doesn’t actually have a “Cancelled” status within its API – which meant that TIDE couldn’t simply tell Unleashed to mark an order as cancelled.
The TIDE team dug into the system logic. They found that while Unleashed couldn’t cancel an order, it could handle refunds. And, more importantly, TIDE could delete any order refunded before shipment.
That insight became the key.
The Solution: Turning Cancellations into Refunds, and Refunds into Automation
Harry proposed a smart workaround:
If a cancelled order could be treated as a full refund within TIDE, then Unleashed would see it as refunded – and TIDE could automatically delete it.
Here’s how it worked:
- When an order was cancelled in TikTok Shop, TIDE would queue it as a refund.
- If that order was still open in Unleashed (statuses like Parked, Placed, or Backordered – with no shipments), TIDE would automatically delete it.
- For Woo, the same logic applied – full refunds would trigger automatic deletion of matching open orders in Unleashed.
This feature didn’t exist out of the box. It required custom configuration and testing, but it offered Serious Pig exactly what they needed: clean, synced data across all their systems.
The Outcome: Cleaner Data, Less Manual Work, and Happier Teams
With TIDE’s “Delete Open Orders if Cancelled” feature enabled, Serious Pig could now confidently manage their orders across Woo, TikTok Shop, and Unleashed without worrying about duplicate or lingering data.
The result? A cleaner Unleashed database, fewer administrative headaches, and a seamless workflow between platforms – all while keeping Serious Pig’s operational processes smooth and scalable.
A Great Example of Partnership in Action
This project showcases exactly how TIDE works best – partnering with customers to understand their workflows, adapt intelligently to available system functionality, and design automation that makes day-to-day operations easier.
By turning a tricky multi-platform issue into a clean, automated process, the TIDE team helped Serious Pig stay focused on what they do best: making delicious snacks that are good for people and the planet.
